Japanese Beetle sightings, stories and video

The annual Japanese Beetle infestation usually occurs around July 4 in the Northeastern and Upper Midwestern areas of the United States. Sounds like they're right on cue.

There's a fair amount of panic in Merced, California, over a recent Japanese Beetle sighting.

Here's a video out of Georgia that shows a rose bush partially skeletonized by Japanese Beetles:

I think he would much prefer using our RESCUE! Japanese Beetle Trap, because it's disposable! No need to change out the nasty bags of beetles.

I just bought the Rescue Japanese Beetle Trap and I just can't seem to get it together. I am looking for better instructions for putting it together

Jean,

I'm sorry the instructions for the Japanese Beetle Trap were unclear. We are always striving to improve our products, and perhaps this most recent set of instructions might be easier to follow:

1. Unfold the yellow panels to form a square. Hold trap upside down to drop attractant cartridge and twist tie out of the bag.
2. The yellow panels have side flaps which form a funnel inside the bag and restrict the opening to keep beetles from escaping. The notches at the bottom of the side flaps should be snapped onto the thin posts in the middle. From the outside of the bag, push in on the side flap so that the notch snaps onto the post. Continue until all four sides are in place.
3. Remove attractant cartridge from clear plastic wrapper.
4. Slip cartridge, flat side up, over the hanging tab, line up the slots and snap in place.
5. Thread twist-tie through hole on top of center panels.
6. Attach trap tightly with twist-tie to a stake or pole 4 feet above the ground, at least 30 feet from the foliage to be protected.

If you prefer a live person to walk you through the trap setup, please call our main customer service line at 1-800-666-6766. Ann, Susan or Cassandra will be happy to help you.

Thank you for trying our product, and good luck with those Japanese Beetles!

Where can I buy these? I got them at Costco last year and I loved them, but they do not seem to be carrying them this year. They are the best solution to this problem I have found. I would like to buy a case of them. Any suggestions on where?

I just blew money on a beetle trap that is very difficult to put together. Three out of four yellow flaps broke off before I could even try to figure out how to put it together? Ended up being 1 expensive zip-lock bag.

Janice, if the trap broke as you were setting it up, we'd be happy to replace it for you. Just call our customer service line at 1-800-666-6766 and talk to Ann, Susan or Cassandra.
